Spectacle lens coatings

A coating decides how lenses behave in daily use: whether they reflect less light, clean more easily, resist fine scratches and protect eyes in specific conditions.

Fewer reflections

Classic and premium anti-reflective coatings improve lens clarity, eye appearance behind glasses and comfort when driving after dark.

Easier cleaning

Hydrophobic, oleophobic and antistatic layers reduce water, greasy marks and dust on the lens surface.

Protection for situations

We fit UV, Blue Protect, photochromic, anti-fog, night-driving and sunglass coatings to real needs.

Anti-reflection, hard coating and scratch resistance

Anti-reflection reduces light reflections on the lens surface. Premium versions usually offer better durability, easier cleaning and a calmer image around car lights, screens and strong indoor lighting.

Hard coating increases resistance to small scratches from daily use. It does not make the lens indestructible, but helps when glasses are put on, removed, cleaned and worn all day.

Hydrophobic, oleophobic and antistatic layers

A hydrophobic layer makes water droplets run off more easily. An oleophobic layer reduces greasy marks from fingers, creams and cosmetics. An antistatic layer attracts less dust, so glasses stay cleaner longer.

These coatings are especially appreciated in winter, at work, around children and whenever glasses need frequent wiping. Microfibre and a dedicated lens cleaner are still the best cleaning tools.

UV, Blue Protect, photochromic, night and anti-fog

UV protection matters all year round, even on bright days without harsh sun. Blue Protect or blue-filtering material is chosen for people who work a lot at screens and want calmer contrast.

Photochromic lenses darken outdoors and clear indoors. For night driving we choose solutions that reduce glare and reflections. Anti-fog helps limit fogging with masks, in winter, kitchens, clinics or temperature changes.

Mirror coating and polarisation in sunglasses

Mirror coating and polarisation in sunglasses

In sunglasses, a mirror coating gives a stronger visual effect and reflects part of the light. Polarisation reduces glare from wet roads, water, snow and glass, which is why we often recommend it for drivers and outdoor use.

With prescription sunglasses, we can combine sun protection with your correction. We choose colour, darkness and coating so the glasses are practical, not only eye-catching.
